Ever since I was compelled to leave the PaSaRyu dojo in Cordova, TN at blue belt due to moving, I've wanted to get back into martial arts. So when I was surfing the RSO's (Registered Student Organizations) at the University of Wyoming and came across the Wyoming Kendo Club, you bet I was thrilled.

I emailed the instructor through the university and he said they wouldn't be taking new students until after the fall semester began, but that I was welcome to come and observe the rest of the summer classes. So I'm going to go to their training session next Tuesday at 1900 and watch.

Anyone else do Kendo? If so, what are your experiences with it?

I practice Kumdo (Korean and more aggressive version). I am currently a purple belt. I am currently taking a break from Kumdo because I am focusing more on my academics at Mason along with going to Mason sports which help release stress.

I'm planning on joining a Kendo club at my college next semester, or at least taking a look into it.
However, I'm a complete beginner and know almost nothing about it.
Any pointers?

Dont look at me, I'm a noob at it too. Too bad we aren't both going to the same college, we could train together :)

Some advise for beginner since I have more experience in Kumdo (Same thing as Kendo).

You have to be prepared for constant practice of the basics and yelling.

Never give up no matter how much pain you are in.

I am a Purple Belt because I constantly push myself to be better in practice and never giving up is not option for me.
