That's bad of course, but it's not really WP's fault. A lot of webmasters don't have much control with the ads. As a previous poster said, Firefox with AdBlock Plus and one of the filters works wonders. In the time I've been using it I have seen ONE ad, which I promptly blocked.

It works wonders to disable flash in your browswer. Just go to tools, manage add-ons, and look for flash. It only takes a second to enable/disable it.

Unfortunately facebook now requires you to have flash to view a homepage even if there are no flash images on it, but again its a minor inconvenience and well worth not having the rapidly flashing adds that are common to the internet

If you use firefox, install the FlashBlock extension. This lets you optionally turn on flash per page so nothing ever pops up unexpectedly

I use firefox with the NoScript addon. It stops scripts from running without your permission, including flash, java, xml, which can all be malicious as well.
