I am a severe asthmatic and last night i had to go by ambulanace to the ER (our car is broken down so 911 had to be called) and i spent 6 hours there. I almost had a meltdown because i was crowded by emts and the fire department when they got here to take me to er. It did not get better at er cause i didnt know where my room mate had gone cause she had to ride in front. she had to fill out some paperwork for me i was better when she arrived at least.

I took a total of 2 regular treatments and two 1.30hr treatmeants we where at the ER for a minimum of 6 hours and then me and my room mate had to take the bus home. The ride was horrible and tirering. I am starting to dislike bus routes because to me half the time they dont make sense. We missed the buss for being on the wrong side of the street so we had to wait 30 to take another buss to take another buss to go home. I got pricked for an iv i didnt need I never got put on it, so I have a quater size bruise on my hand my chest and back are tired as hell from breathing effort and well its been a horrible two days for me. I had a stress seizure in the er because of the stress of all those strangers asking questions @_@

I'm currently having a persistant asthma flare up. The inflammation is worse than usual. No illness symptoms, just something must have triggered this and it's been 4 days of misery. I have some prednisone I'm supposed to be taking too but I'm going to wait a bit longer to see if it can get under control any other way first. That stuff is wicked and I want to avoid it if I can.

I've gone for YEARS without needing any asthma meds at all. My doctor calls me "well maintained" because I'm very careful and take vitamins and minerals and stay away from things I'm allergic to and take fish oil, etc etc. Everything I can find that helps fight asthma I do it. It has paid off but this time there's just a flare up that is persistant and not much I can do about it. I'm using my nebulizer every 4 hours and it's helping.

What I'd like to know is this - do lots of aspies have asthma? It seems to me that it's very common. It IS common among all people but it seems to me even more so with aspies. Has anyone here ever done a poll?

The longer I've played french horn, the better my asthma has gotten. I used to carry my inhaler in my pocket all the time as a kid. Now, after 13 years of playing horn, sometimes I even don't bring it with me (usually by accident, but still).

Stress can also make asthma worse. My doctor suggested drinking hot drinks to relax from the inside.
