I wear hearing aids. Why do you ask?

I lost my hearing sometime about aged 2 - so I don't think it qualifies as adult loss.

I wear hearing aids sometimes (occasionally) but most of the time, I've learned to cope without.

i've experienced hearing loss in my right ear recently (and suddenly). i just wondered if it was generally "common", or due to hypersensitivity.

Possible causes;

Wax? don't laugh.. it's a very real and frequent cause - often you can't get it yourself.
Wax is the most common problem - especially if you've recently had a cold.

Recent Ear infection?

Stroke? You can have a stroke that affects hearing without knowing that you've had one.

First things first. See a doctor and find out from him if there's an externally visible cause.

Yes. I have been using hearing aids for over 15 years. I know I have been hard of hearing for at least 25 years.

Yeah i have hearing loss in both ears. The thing with mine, is my hearing went in one day. All it took was a sneeze and it was gone.That was 9 years ago and my hearing improved slightly and ive just been fitted with new hearing aids. To this day nobody knows why a sneeze buggered up my hearing. so having limited eye contact due to my aspergers, and the hearing loss forces me to lipread, makes learning eye contact near impossible.
