Everytime I go out and I am around alot of people I am drained. For example, when I go to the mall. I feel like the people there are sucking the energy right out of me.

Does anyone know what is going on?

I have the same experience a lot of the time. I think it's a combination of the stress of trying not to act too "odd" and be noticed, the worry that someone will box me in to some kind of social interaction (talk to me, whatever), and the fear I'll offend some idiot NT who will attack me either verbally or physically. I used to go to a supermarket and a pharmacy that were both open all night, so I'd go at 4am to avoid people. The mere presence of other people is a stressor for me, same as it seems to be for you.

I used to have this experience a lot. It's not only a result of the anxiety of having people around you, but it's also the fact that there's a certian point where you need to "socially recharge" and be alone. I find that when there is too much going on around me (the sights, noises, smells in a mall, for example) this feeling becomes a lot more intense.

you are tense
social anxiety
you can't relax and be yourself - you have to concentrate to act normal

I also feel the same... We are all not used to interact with so many people and this is so unnatural for us, so we feel that we have used our energy in such situations.

Sigh. Social anxiety will not help... Glad that I am not alone:P
