Hey, I was wondering how many of you here are Formula 1 fans.

I've been watching since I was 4, didn't really start understanding until I was about 8 or so though. Currently my favourite driver is Jenson Button, however I'm for all British drivers, so was desperate to see Lewis Hamilton win the title this year. The major disappointment of this year though was all the court cases, that really brought down what was one of the best F1 seasons in years.

Formula 1 > every other form of racing, except World Rally.

Been watching F1 since Canada 1997, when Olivier Panis crashed late in the race and broke both legs.

Well, we all knew that Lewis Hamilton wouldn't win immidiately, especially since he and Alonso didn't get on.

Let's hope he wins next year. Though Alonso and Raikkonnenn are tough opponents.

I'm a big F1 fan. Got it from my father. F1 is not very popular in the United States, although it is a gazillion times better than Indy or Nascar.

I was watching Lewis Hamilton in GP2 last year, and especially in Turkey, he made me think "If he gets in a good car in F1, he's gonna blow them all away". I was prepared for the Hamilton phenomenon before it hppened, but I was questioning at first if he could win the title, an after Aussie, I knew the answer was yes. Just a shame it was all lost at Europe, Turkey, China and Brazil. If nothing happened to him then, goodness knows how much he could've won by...

Yes I have been watching Formula One since I was 10 years old the year Damon Hill won the world championship. I don't watch every race because I am usually busy on a Sunday.

True, since James Allen came along... oh boy, did things go down. Remember Button's pit stop at the 2006 San Marino GP?

"Oh no, it's all gone Pete Tong!"

I mean what on earth? At least the Murrayisms were funny! :P

My mum was a big Formula 1 fan and I went Adelaide for the Grand Prix (before it was moved to Melbourne in 1996) back in 1988. That one week holiday to Adelaide for the race was part of my 9th birthday present!

I'll like to go to the one in Melbourne but to me, Adelaide is where it should be.

No-one can replace Murray Walker, unfortunately...

I really want Massa to win the title though. He did really well as Schumacher's understudy in '06, and luck just didn't go his was in '07.

I think Hamilton was a bit overrated and way too overhyped.. He did very good for his first season in what I think may have been the best car of the year. Reliability was on his side at the beginning but later in the season a few issues evened up the scores.

He wont be as successful next season because It is likely that the mclaren wont have such a clear advantage in the first few races but will surely be a regular on the podium.

You have to look at it in both lights really:

1 = The McLaren may not be as strong as last year, because not only are they freezing their own development in three areas, but both Hamilton and Kovalainen are slightly inexperienced with setting up F1 cars. Now they've both had a year, they'll be stronger for sure, but compared to the likes of Alonso, Kimi and Massa, they may struggle.

However,

2 = As history goes, if it repeats itself, Hamilton will CRUSH the opposition. Of course, this being F1, it may not be as significant as before, but if Lewis has had a second year in a catagory, he has obliterated the competition. Like I say, not easy to do in F1, but Lewis fans can take some sort of comfort in that.

It's either one or the other. Sadly, I still feel number 1 is more likely to happen :(

My favourite driver is Raikkonen I liked that he won last season but didnt expect it. I like finnish drivers I was a fan of Hakkinen too. Although I was a bigger fan of Schumacher when Hakkinen was around so it was hard for me to lose when either one of them was winning and then was the time for me when F1 was at its best.

I think its that the finnish drivers seem to be quiet and focused which schumacher seems to have to but less so. I like this a lot and thinking of it now they may seem more aspie to me. lol

Wow, I've been searching the entire sports forums for a Formula One thread, and ive found one after a lot of searching.

I've been watching the sport since 1996, i can still remember the great Murray Walker commentating.
