Giving rispirodol to kids is a terrible idea... it could mess up their hormones for the rest of their life.

I'm not saying it's a great idea - I'm just saying that it has been done.

So has trepanation.

Interesting, I just looked up "trepanation" - I had heard of it before, but I didn't know it had a name. So, both trenpanation and giving Risperdal to children have been done ... but, unlike trenpanation, Risperdal can be helpful in extreme cases when there are no other options. It certainly wouldn't be my first choice if I had an extremely irritable autistic kid (the side effects!), but at least it does work.

I took Zyprexa for nearly 2 years and Cipralex (SSRI) for about 14 months and while they did help, i also had extreme anxiety problems all the time while on them, however now after a year of being off them i am now going to my doctor tomorrow to get new prescriptions for them. The disordered thinking induced by schizophrenia and depression is just too much to bear. I think this is one of the core problems of treating psychosis, it is very hard to convince yourself that you need help when you are mad.

Oh, no... I didn't mean to accuse you of anything... I was just really shocked to hear it, that's all.

Oh, don't worry, I didn't interpret it like you were being accusatory or anything. :)
