I have bipolar and my husband is NT, and has a physical illness. We have been married for a year. Because of his support and love I am in remission.

It was very hard for him at times, especially when I was hospitalised. During my recovery I found it difficult to cope with doing too much and with too much pressure. He had to find the fine line between putting on too much pressure and too little pressure. I needed lots of unconditional love and I did not respond well to criticism at all. If she is unwell your own needs will go on hold for a while.

Also you need to find the balance between being a carer and being equal partners in the relationship. If one is unwell the other will take over, and if both are unwell you will suffer together. But if you are a carer for a long period it can make the marriage difficult and uneven.

Don't be afraid to get counselling for you both if there have been issues in the past.

In general, 'don't sweat the small stuff' and remember 'it's all small stuff'

This can totally work, wish you the best.
