Been thinking about starting this topic for a while and avoiding it because I feel so embarrassed about it, I even hate the name of it, but here goes...Does anyone else have trichotillomania in particular affecting their eyelashes and eyebrows? More often I see people discussing it about scalp hair but I don't seem to do that.

I find I tend to do it most when on the computer which is a bit ironic. Sometimes I can go through a good phase but then all it takes is a few minutes and all that I achieved is lost. Have you found anything that helps or things to avoid? Contrary to what I have seen someone saying on Youtube, I have discovered that for me wearing eye liner acts as a bit of a deterrent with my eyelashes but I haven't found anything to help with the eyebrows yet. :/ I have never been confident about the way I look and this really doesn't help, I wish I could cure it. :(

As a child, I used to pull my hair out one strand at a time and inspect it. I no longer do that, but I do often find myself pulling at my eyelashes to get rid of the loose ones. I outgrew the scalp hair pulling, but grew into the eyelash pulling...sigh. Have you tried applying a clear eyebrow/eyelash gel to your eyebrows? It looks like a mascara tube, and is meant to groom your eyebrows or define your eyelashes. It might be a deterrent in the same way as eye liner is for your eyes.

my eye lash pulling gets really bad if stressed, I have had it where I took out half an eye brow once. since I have thick italian eye brows, it was quite noticeable.

I think mine has slightly changed over time aswell, I presume that can happen quite often; like if I find something to help one area it can get worse with the other. I haven't thought about the gel, so thanks for the suggestion I'll try and find some.

I feel your frustration. :/ Mine have never been the same since I developed this problem.

Although I wouldn't wish this on anyone, it's good to know that I'm not the only one having trouble with it so thankyou for your responses.

my keyboard is constantly littered with hair, mostly from my scalp and my eyebrows. my main struggle however is with my dermatillomania which is just absolutely awful right now. i just purchased a couple of tangles/fidget toys from amazon and i'm hoping that will do something to help. previously popping bubble wrap was great but that's much harder to manage in public/living in a dorm with paper thin walls.

I pull hair out of my pelvis area and under arms. I don't do it out of stress or nothing. I just do it where the razor misses it. I used to do it more but it had gotten better over time. Plus I enjoy seeing the roots and pulling it out. I don't know if I would say I have this condition.
