I was wondering what early experiences of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder were like. Did it feel like you were going crazy or did you not know?

You might get an answer at https://forums.psychcentral.com.

I usually don't know when I'm manic. When I begin to rant about how crazy everybody else is and try to change the world, it's too late.

I think I might actually have Schizotypal Personality Disorder, rather than Asperger's. I wanna get tested for SPD when I can afford a decent shrink.

Here are some of the reasons I suspect SPD:
-SPD is associated with "magical thinking" (I'm literally a witch)
-SPD is associated with a female-typical digit ratio, autism with a male-typical ratio (my digit ratio is almost perfectly 1:1)
-SPD is often comorbid with epilepsy, and I had epilepsy as a child
-I'm a trans girl and apparently a very high percentage of trannies have SPD
-I don't actually get along with autistic people very much (no offense, fellas)
-Never had problems with eye contact; that's pretty much a universal autistic thing as far as I know

Also I want to try Pimozide, and see if that alleviates any of my social anxiety. Can Pimozide be used to treat SPD or is it only for full-on schizophrenia?

Nothing in your list makes me think SPD more than ASD or anything to be honest but I'm not an expert. Maybe you have both?

You can't have both, by definition.

Are you sure about that?

There is a member here who has been diagnosed with schizotypal personality disorder along with aspergers ( I'm not saying it is a correct diagnosis but they have diagnosed with both )

Google Schizotypal autism

On contrair as problems with eye contact suggests it's not just not looking into eyes but also looking into them to much... <<< I do that :). Also, Magical the thinking it's more of two possible things a confuisng hard two follow sentences which i sometimes exhibit aka thought disorder and also. Delusions also it can also be that they come to conclusions no one else does.

AS far as I am aware of there is no reason you can't have them both. While due to medical overlap it's hard for someone to get diagnosed with asd and spd but certainly not impossible. [/color]

It would be impossible to know that you are going insane because the part of the brain that retains said insight is already destroyed. This happens before the prodrome, or the earliest stage when symptoms are just beginning to appear. That is why most people who go insane deny they are insane.

That being said, it is possible to have a feeling that something is off, which is more common in educated people who know more about mental illness. If you are struggling with this, then I recommend seeing a psychologist if you are not already. Not necessarily because I think you have schizophrenia, but because they will be able to provide a better picture of your situation for you.

I have been terrified of going insane for the past year and a half, but so far I have not had a full blown psychotic episode. I hope you are able to figure out what is going on and possibly even prevent that from ever happening to you. Good luck.

I think it's unlikely but possible to notice. You might blame it on other people though.

I had one a month or two ago. I felt like I was having some religious/spiritual awakening but it eventually faded but Iwas still having those effects. Am not really sure if it's still going on but ti seems ot have settled down. It lasted about a week maybe longer. It be impossible to tell for sure by yourself tho.
