I said in another Topic that I took one of those Bipolar self assessment test which indicate that I didn't have bipolar. I also said I was never diagnosed for it. This test that indicated that I didn't have Bipolar was not from WP. But, I did take the test listed in the first post, twice. And both scores were only 3 points apart. The first score was 33 and the second score was 30. Anything over 22 indicates Bipolar I or II and that I should get professional help. I knew I had some behaviors of Bipolar, but I was surprise at the score on this test.

I do remember going crazy a few times losing all of my faculties. The worst was when I was walking into the ladies restroom were I worked, slipped on some soapy water in the door way. I don't know what happend, but I went crazy while still laying on the floor and started kicking the door and anything else I can kick. Since I had to use marking pens on the job I was doing, I got up and covered the ladies restroom wall using my marking pens. I finally came to my senses and stopped marking the wall, returning to the press I operated all of the time and started working as if nothing happened. They never found out who vandalized the lady's restroom.

There are times where nothing would really set me off, but I would be set off and have thrown tape records, pots and pans and other objects causing in some cases a lot of distruction. I have tried to put my fist through the wall. When I was still in school and I accidently got hurt, I would go off again and try to beat on the class mate that caused the accident and others had to hold me back. I lost my faculties in all of these situations and didn't know what I was doing. There has been many other incidence where I would lose it. My temper don't get out of control now like it use to, but I do have fits once in a while that is pretty serious that cause damage to something or cause me some pain.

I also have severe mood swings though they aren't as bad as they use to be. I go from deep depression to being unusually happy. And these mood swings can change in less then a minute where I'm crying one minute and then laughing the next.

I know I have HFA. Given what I told you here. Do you think I have bipolar too?

I couldn't diagnose you myself, but I scored 28 on this and I now have a definitive diagnosis of Ultradian Bipolar (probably type 1 although it's hard to tell type 1 from 2 with ultradian cycling). What you said about those rage outbursts I'm not really sure what to make of. Mood swings from depression to overly happy/hyped up are definitely an indicator though. You should probably consider seeing someone just to discuss the rage outbursts anyway to see if there's any sort of medication you could take or techniques you could practice as prevention methods.

Stopped at Question 2 [like it said]. My mood stays the same: anxious and apathetic [to most things].

I've always felt like many of the points that Question 1 describes as far as I can remember.

I don't think I am. I didn't even make it to the check box part before I said no. It does run in my family though, my mum and my aunt both have it.

Sounds like you might have it. Are you really sensitive to caffeine? Does it make more anxious or stressed?
One suggestion I have unless you are taking meds is to try st. johns wort if it makes you feel better than I would
look in to it. Before I was on Lithium st. johns really helped and that helped with my diagnosis :D

Yes, I am very sensitive to caffeine. Makes me hyper and irritable. And that is why I started drinking decaf coffee now. Tea don't seem to bother me. But, I still have problems with anger issues though I have made changes. I'll have to try St. John's Wort. But, I will not take prescription, especially Lipitor, drugs anymore because those were also making my anger issues so much worse. Right now I'm not taking any prescription drugs because of that and other issues I was having.

My kitchen faucet has a nice dent in it and you should see one of my metal mixing bowls,, wow. Don't even know why I even keep it. I'm always throwing stuff and that is why so much of it gets broken or heavily damage. I broke a cup just recently because I got angry over dropping a fork on the floor and threw it in the sink as hard as I can breaking the cup and chipping off some porcelain. There is damage everywhere in my house where I would have fits of anger. But, I must admit, these issues aren't quite as bad.

The tiniest amounts of caffeine send me through the roof so I avoid it like the plague normally. I had forgotten that I had heard of other people with bipolar experiencing sudden bursts of rage/violence I guess because I haven't had that. My presentation isn't standard.

I got 17 so could have 2% chance of being bipolar.

I wonder whether these ups and downs are just natural parts of life.

I think most people who don't even have bipolar has their ups and downs which is just a part of life. But, with a person that has bipolar our ups and downs are extreme, even to the point where we have to take meds some times. At one time I was on meds because of my violent outbursts. I'm not on meds anymore but I still have violent outburst which aren't quite as bad anymore.

I thought the test was worthwhile, in an AS forum, as a reminder that there are differences between ongoing introversion and a temporary low.

As for the remedies, I believe you are trading one set of side effects for another. Between natural compounds and synthetics, one is not necessarily safer or less effective. St. John's Wort, in particular, can be used to potentiate profound mental states in the legal drug scene. It induces photo-sensitivity in free range livestock and, probably, in my own eyes.

I feel that food and sleep can help me to feel more stable but want to be careful not to encourage food or sleep disorders. Re-learning the routines we were taught as children can be a helpful way to anchor yourself into low-pressure mindset. It does help to mitigate many little triggers, but, again, can be taken to obsessive extremes, IMHO.

I have just done the self test. I scored 37.. i have been worried about myself for a long period of time, i have always thought there is something about me that isnt right, i have really bad mood swings and i find myself talking to myself. My boyfriend has recently called me a 'pysco' and ever since he said that it feels like something has 'clicked'.. it makes sense. I am currently on medication for depression. I am scared of going to my doctor and talking to her about how i realy feel.. I dont want to be taken away and locked up in a mental hospital.. So does anyone recomend any therapies or anything that helps?????

I want HONEST answers and replys.. I appreciate honesty even if it seems harsh.

Thank You

Now that you realize you may be bipolar like I am and realize some of the negative activities you are doing, that is the first step to recovery. After I realize I may have bipolar, even talking to myself and cursing like a sailer, I think to myself don't do this and keep thinking about it until I calm down. Being aware of being bipolar has really helped me identify and at least lessen the negativity that I feel.

As for therapies, they may or may not help since you are on meds for depression already. I decided not to get therapy for my possible bipolar now that I realize what the issues are. Your boyfriend need to be educated about bipolar and help you instead of calling you a psycho. Good luck. I wish you the best of luck.

I scored 21, one more point it would suggest that I'm Bipolar and so I just have a 2% change that I am.
I'm slighly irritated by that.

I scored 22, so that means I should with my therapist, rather or not I might have Bipolar Disorder. Of course their are other factors to take into consideration, like being schizophrenic and clinically depressed.....

I read that it's a bit of a discussion if autistic people are more bipolar than others or if they have just autistic mood disregulation problems, who can look quite simmilar sometimes.
I have to say: I don't know the answer to it.
