"I'm stressed too" is the worst.

Basically they're saying I'm making a big deal over nothing if they can control their own stress.

Thanks for the link.

Every time somebody I love is going on a plane, I get so worked up about losing them in a tragic plane crash. The answers I get to that are ''cars have more chance of crashing than airplanes'' and ''you're going to lose them some day anyway'' (if the loved one is older than me). The latter doesn't really help anything. The former is true but still doesn't keep me from worrying about plane crashes. I think it must be an irrational thing, because each time people I love get into a car, I don't think ''oh my God they might crash'' like I do when they are going on an airplane.

Yeh it can be frustrating to talk to someone without floating or generalized anxiety disorder. It's like they fail to see how it's an irrational behavior, and try to rationalize it. We all know when certain things are irrational, but can't help it in some cases. It's like the logical and anxious part of the brain are dueling it out. If they knew that feeling, they'd probably try to not say things that would add onto the existing anxiety. x.x Sometimes when I explain it that way people get it, but it's not always the case.

true at the disability agency their "suggesting " such and such job , when I explain the air con is to high their etc and my "flight" response goes through the roof I feel like I'm being wimpish .

Good grief I told them I could work in one of the newer Woolworths stores , better lighting , cooler , more open plan etc though asking for a shelf stacker job is asking to much it seems

if society wants to discriminate against me they can keep paying my pension I guess

I hate it when people say "It's all in your head" but when I offer to trade what is in my head for what is in theirs its becomes a joke.
