I find that wearing obviously gendered female clothes makes it easier to socialize.
When I tried to present male it was obvious that gender calculators would return the answer "does not compute, please try again."
Small hands, no Adam's Apple, high waistline, short petite hourglass figure all say female.
As well as my voice, mannerisms, and walk.

As a bonus there is a ton of clothes for me to buy sized in woman's XS.
Typically the large sizes sell out first, leaving the small sizes for discount sales.

I think I kind of hated wearing them to church when I was little. About five years ago I got an accounting job at a company that required a kind of business professional dress code.

We had CEO's who would occassionally come to the office. I was "required" to wear a tie and a dress shirt. I thought just wearing that by itself seemed kind of silly and thought "If I'm going to do that I might as well wear a suit". That's what I ended up doing. There were some girls (around my age and some slightly younger) who worked there and felt (this could have been in my mind) that I felt more attractive wearing one. It did also increase my confidence a bit and felt more polished and put together. At one point I even bought a suit vest to wear and made the suit a three-piece suit. I did like how it looked. I sometimes feel bad that I am this way. I went to the store this evening and wore one out and the girl at the checkout asked what I did as she hardly ever sees anybody in one. I told her I worked in Accounting. It made me feel good to get the compliment. I am at the point now where I dislike wearing normal clothes anymore. I don't know what to make of it anymore but am interested in hearing what others think. I am thinking maybe this is something I need therapy for and is indicative of some self-esteem issues.

Hey B, Your WP account is the most professional looking one on here. I kind of figured being an accountant you had to dress up for work, hence your profile picture. I think that's kind of awesome actually. These days, probably a tie isn't necessary in many circumstances, but if you want to more power to ya!

Is there a specific brand of dress shirts, suits, shoes, or ties you like? I never dress up but if I did Ace Mark shoes are really nice looking. Personally, I like darker colored shirts.

One thing I do like seeing from TV shows/movies from the 50s-60s is people didn't dress like slobs, always thought men wearing hats was a nice touch.

I can see what Brian means by clothing and self-esteem. I feel kind of the same way but maybe not as dressed up

During the warmer months of the year, I admit I am into polo shirts VS t-shirts. I like these-https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-3501649/mens-grand-slam-off-course-textured-golf-polo.jsp?skuid=72531305&gclid=95185ccfc7951d431f6d3b366183fad5&gclsrc=3p.ds&msclkid=95185ccfc7951d431f6d3b366183fad5

They have to be of this material, those pique polo shirts are like a cheese grater on my skin. Nike golf makes some nice ones too. I used to wear an undershirt with them, but I find it feels better without. I don't know, wearing a T-shirt seems sloppy or something a kid does.

I wear shorts at home or just running a quick errand (say I need something in the middle of a house project or need to run to Kroger quick) but otherwise I wear jeans. My usual outfit is jeans and a polo shirt un-tucked. Shorts again, feel little kiddish.

I also kind of like jewelry. I've had my ears pierced for a really long time, 2 piercings in my left, 1 in the right. I prefer hoop earrings; I have a few pairs of surgical steel ones. Silver, gold, black, blue, and rose gold. I have a couple of rope gold chains. I'd probably have a couple of decent brand watches if I knew they wouldn't get messed up at job.

Footwear, I have a thing for Asics sneakers, but I do really like wearing cowboy boots. I own a few pairs, and I live no place near Texas. Going back to the self-esteem thing, I guess when I wear my boots, I feel more manly and more in control of things. Maybe it's something psychological to cope with my anxiety and being an introvert. I dunno. I will wear sandals if its a hot day and I am not at work.

I do like baseball hats as well.

Maybe clothing in a sense is sort of masking, meaning not being associated with Aspergers stereotypes, not trying to sound like an a-hole but that's just how I feel. I feel that people take me more seriously in how a present myself. Another thing is, when I grew a beard a few years ago I noticed I get treated better it seems like. Now, I do all this because I want to and I feel comfortable this way. Some may feel comfortable a different way and that's fine. You be you.

I have some very nice golf clothes as well as a set of custom golf clubs. :D

The last summer of work they put in a dress code that no longer allowed shorts.
But, it allowed wearing skirts to work.
Yes, I shaved my legs. :D

Aw, Thank you so much King Kat! You're so kind! I like the look of ties but I have trouble wearing one some time because of how it can feel choking. I think that might be an issue of fit though maybe. I like dress shirts from Joseph A Bank out of Maryland. Here is a link to them just if you're curious :) They used to have a store not too far from me but it closed. There also used to be a Brooks Brothers shop near me where I got my suits from but they ended up closing as well. They can be a bit expensive though and have been trying to find some good less expensive alternatives. For dress shoes I like Oxford ones alot. I will have to take a look at Ace Mark shoes!

I like Polo shirts alot too! Kohls has some great clothes! I used to wear them alot when I was younger. I am going to have to buy some again. I like khaki pants too. I do like the comfortability of blue jeans but don't wear them very often. I like wearing shorts at home too! That's cool you got your ears pierced too! That's a nice accessory!

I think clothing can be masking sometimes too. I think even though I do like the dress clothing and suits I also use it to mask. Sometimes I feel what I project on the outside is not sometimes what I feel on the inside. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me :)

Wow nice, high-quality stuff, if it makes you happy then nothing is wrong with that. I think for many on spectrum, like many things either one way or the other. Many I find, tend to be slobs and messy. While others want order, organization, and cleanliness. I'm obsessed with keeping my house and car clean, along with doing my best trying to dress decent.

The world as it is, I do believe you have to make a decent impression at times on the outside to get respect and for people take you seriously. I mean, that's just how it is for better for worse.

I went to Brooks Brothers at a mall in the 1990s and they wouldn't sell me a suit!
I was too small for anything to fit properly in the men's or boy's department.

Now that I have gained twenty pounds I can now wear the smallest women's sizes. 8O

Brilliant Brian0787.... it is almost like a magic trick to use this accent to your appearance to help masking or not.
WhennI see myreflection in a window, or the odd mirror . Dressing well .. helped self esteem very much for me.
Keepings one self. trimmed up in general appearance helps a bunch. And yes most often around the home am quit abit less formal in appearance . It has beenyears ,I have do e this and as age has come upon, Sm alittle less trim, than I once was and a few extra grey hairs . Which oddly enough has seemed to inadvertantly , seemed to help the respect, I feel from the average person . When in public. With the rare occassion when a street person might consider myself to be a good target to play, or muech money from. Its not that I do not wish to help my fellow human, but I do wish the time and choosing of when I express generousity . And many men seem to consider females to be a soft touch so to speak..
It has appeared to me. Also a long passed boyfriend told me to carry a second obvious wallet wallet. with a few 20.00 dollarbills in it, incase of of possible muggers. And hideout wallet with all ID and important stuff. best to fumble and drop passbook ( decoy , wallet) if front of mugger and run immediately after dropping it. But never had that experience
in life yet.Since adulthood .

I forgot to mention this but I like tinted glasses. My regular prescription glasses have transition lens's, which I really like as I hate bright light and also like regular sunglasses as well. I wish I could wear dark glasses indoors as I don't have to worry about making eye contact and I just feel like less of a weirdo with them on.

I don't have self esteem problem, but not liking to wear a suit to work (hardly practical for an engineer) certainly didn't do my career prospects any good!

That people think that "clothes maketh the man" is ridiculous, as any con man can put on a smart suit, but pointing this out will not alter people's opinions.

I remember resenting being made to wear a suit when I spent half the time on my knees under people's desks.
**Remains deliberately vague for amusement value**

I can't remember how many suit trousers from which I wore the pinstripes off the knees.

Tinted glasses are very cool! I am going to be getting some new glasses soon. I kind of wish I asked for them but didn't.

I don't blame you for not wearing a suit and I don't think Engineers should have to unless they want to. I honestly don't like that "clothes maketh the man" expression either because it implies that it is your identity. In some ways it is a part of you but your true self is underneath. I think the old expression "It's what's inside that counts" fits best.

I hated going underneath my desk in a suit or in dress trousers. I had to do it to situate plugs and cords. It's not fun. I'm usually there thinking in my head "Why can't IT do this?" I don't mind doing it if I wasn't in a suit and dress clothes.

Where is IT when you need them... :D ...do not let IT dictate your dress code.. :ninja: 8O .... :D :D :D
Auto darkening glasses with frames that accent your facial features well, may serve you well.. My blue blockers I used for Comp type screens are also auto darkening in brighter lights,. Many online stores carry these.
Anyone can live a life ..not all can do it in style .. :nerdy:
