How to conceptualize ADHD / ADD?

In my view, here's a simplification/oversimplification:

In society, there are a few children and a few adults who have perplexing paying
attention difficulties, subtle memory difficulties, and some subtle or other
gross and fine motor control difficulties. Some of those (not all of those) who
are in this group surprising respond a little to the right central nervous
system stimulant/alerting agent a little (not a cure)(stimulants like coffee,
caffeine compounds, Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderall, and so on).

. . .

ADHD is the current term for the lifelong neurological challenge which
previously has been known as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), Hyperactivity,
Hyperkinesis, Organic Brain Syndrome, Minimal Brain Dysfunction, and Minimal
Brain Damage. (Source: ADHD BB)
