Hi! I was wondering if there are any other disorders that can cause meltdowns besides AS. The reason why is because I am curious and have meltdowns but too many other AS symptoms.

Certain forms of anxiety, Fragile X, maybe Bipolar, but I'm not sure. I might have ADD, and I've noticed that I have poor emotional control, which led to me having meltdowns (although they were all over not doing at least one little thing right).

I had severe childhood meltdowns (almost everyday) and sometimes meltdowns and shutdowns nowadays, they think it's related to my mood disorder.

I have meltdowns on a weekly basis, but I think it might be attributable to annoying-roommate syndrome...

Intermittent Explosive Disorder (weird name) :D
From Wikipedia: "a behavioral disorder characterized by extreme expressions of anger, often to the point of uncontrollable rage, that are disproportionate to the situation at hand."

No, my meltdowns are more anxiety-related than anger-related.

I had many meltdowns as a kid but now my meltdowns are a mixture of AS and fear due to paranoia

I have a meltown almost every week, due to anxiety and paranoia. They always end with an hour of sleep. Does anybody else fall asleep after a meltdown, and wake up feeling calm?

Yeah I do fall asleep. My meltdowns are very different from the violent explosive rages I used to get. These days I head bang, cry and stim more. I don't wake up calm though but that's because I am on some [sarc]wonderful medication[/sarc] that gives me terrifying dreams every night...

Thanks for the validation. Sometimes I wonder if I'm having a seizure--usually an hour of paranoia...and it always wears me out, so I sleep. I wake up feeling calm and ashamed of the accusations I made.

I'm sorry to learn that you are still having night terrors. Mine stopped over a year ago when my husband woke me up because I was saying "Make it stop. It's too real." I believe the dream moved me out of denial and accepted the trauma I had experienced when I was younge.
