A few months ago, my psych doc took me off the straterra because I felt it wasn't working for me. It was making me nauseous and stopped doing what it was supposed to be doing.

He put me on wellbutrin and abilify.

I took a straterra this morning to see if I can't get a little more motivation and focus.

May work, may not. Might make me sick. We'll see.

If it does what I hope, I'll talk to my doc about going back on it.

Hi MasterJedi!

Is Strattera an antipsychotic? If so, was it prescribed for you for bipolar disorder? Just wondering. I've tried three antipsychotics including Abilify and they all made me agitated to the point of suicidal impulses.

Straterra is a med to help manage the symptoms of ADHD.

I have the following:
Recurrent major depression (My axis I dx)
ADHD
Asperger's
I kind of suspect BPD but no one has ever said anything.

DO NOT DO THAT strattera and wellbutrin counteract each other and if you take both together you can get really sick
quote from http://crazymeds.us/

Quote:
Interesting Stuff Your Doctor Probably Won't Tell You: You can't mix Strattera (atomoxetine HCl) and Wellbutrin (bupropion) because they don't play well together in your brain. They both want to grab the same precursors to activate the reuptake inhibition of norepinephrine, and as both work on norepinephrine mixing the two probably isn't such a hot idea in the first place. The details on this haven't been published anywhere that I've yet found, but there is a warning on Medline about mixing the two.

You should know do not change any med with out consulting your dr first. Sometime just a phone call will work. Even if you forget to take meds for a few days you should call your dr and make sure you start back up on the right dose.

My bipolar wife was taking strattera (plus 2 other meds). From what I understood it was a stimulate. It help with focus from ADHD. It also upset her belly. It work realy well for her, but she did not feel well, so she got switched to a new med. It has not worked as well but feels a lot better.
