Anyone here prescribed adderall/dexedrine for ADHD?
How does it affect your autism symptoms? I'm interested because I'm fairly sure that dexedrine (and ritalin when I was on it) amplifies my autism symptoms. It makes it way harder for me to socialise and although my vocabulary seems to be better when I'm typing, the words don't come to me as fast when I'm speaking so its harder to do it.
I have been taking adderall on and off since I was 22. I am 26 now and I want off this crap. I could care less about treating my ADHD symptoms. I continued to take it because Im sleepy all the time and it wakes me up. Last monday I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea which explains the constant sleepyness. Their ordering me a CPAP machine, once I get it im getting off the adderall for good. It has made me angry and jittery and doesnt even treat the adhd symptoms anymore. All it does is keep me awake. If you find it neccerary to treat adhd then try a non amphetamine pill such as provigil, or strattera. (I highly recommend Provigil but my insureance wont cover it and their 28$ a pill.) In conclusion from my experience dont take adderall or any amphetamine based drug ever.
