I picture myself having horrific injuries right before I do something. For example, if I am lifting weights or something heavy, my mind will picture my knee being bent backwards, or a compound fracture jutting through the skin. Then I have to convince myself mentally that it is just my imagination. I do have a fear of height, though I still will go up off the ground when needed. It would be nice if my mind offered me encouragement when I needed it, instead of trying to convince me that I am about to break my neck doing something. Anyone else have something they are afraid of even when it is unlikely to happen?

I have an irrational fear of being buried alive, which isn't going to happen.

Sick, illness, moths and crane flies.
I'm currently recieving CBT for my sick and illness phobias because it's affecting my mental health. I started my first sessions last Thursday, and everything the therapist told me I know already.

That sounds OCDish. As a teen I'd have intrusive thoughts about being cut with razors and pierced with needles -- although, it would happen spontaneously. It wasn't triggered by the presence of razor blades or needles. Thankfully, it doesn't happen anymore.

You should put that imagination to good use and write scripts for horror movies.

I have an irrational fear of people. Actually, I'm not sure how irrational that is. I've had a lot of bad experiences with people.

^^Greetings sluice.

I believe that the little demons bless with me a great fear of poor waspies and the magical buzzy noise that flying insect friends enjoy creating. ^^ I believe wasps are very lovely however.

Yes, being buried alive is a horrible thought to have. I think I've had that one while hiking in the mountains. Only slowly running out of oxygen and gasping for air might be worse. :)

Yes, I don't see myself as a hypochondriac if that is what you mean Monkey. I don't really avoid doing something; it is just my mind registers what might be the worst case scenario. Maybe I am just mentally disturbed. I wonder how you could tell if you where?

I have never looked into OCD. I used to think it was just compulsively rechecking something, which I had a little bit as a kid. Sometimes I do wonder what is going to go through my mind in my last few breaths. If I am going to be severely disappointed in how my life went, but I try to use that as motivation to get up off my butt.

Yeah, people are scary. I always wanted to write a movie script, but I don't think I could organize my thoughts well enough. I would like to scare the bejusus out of people too.

Greetings Tomasu. Yes, I was actually stung multiple times while playing around a hornet's nest when I was really young. Strangely I am more fascinated as in entranced by insects than being afraid of them.

nothing scares me more than being cut on in a hospital. short of that, if a little piece of dark fluff gets on my skin or clothing i freak out and go "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!" and jump around and swat it off of me desperately. if there is a bee inside the car, an accident is imminent. you don't want to be with me and a bee in my car, trust me. if there is a bee in the house, i cannot rest until i have sucked it up into the vacuum cleaner which should be renamed "the bug vault." if there is a bee or bees buzzing around outside, i will stay inside until they go away. i won't do yard work until after sunset just so i can avoid the bees.

Sometimes I can't travel in a car (or other vehicle) for fear of crashing. I have images of twisted metal and mangled bodies all over the road. It's actually worse if my son is in the car with me, I don't care so much if I end up mangled. And when it's really bad I have panic attacks trying to walk across the road, I keep seeing myself hit by a car. And then I wonder who will look after him if I get splattered across the road.

I have an irrational fear of roaches. It's really silly cause I know roaches don't DO anything to you, but I guess that's why it's irrational. I don't even like commercials advertising killing roaches. A dead roach being in the house bothers me. It's unlikely for me to stick around if there's a live one...there's been a few times when I've been over at someone's house for a sleepover or something similar, seen a roach that no one killed, and had to leave because it bothered me so much.

I have an irrational fear of industrial/warehouse type buildings.
Not a specific fear, no idea why (nothing bad ever happened to me in one) just totally and completely wigged out by them.
Sometimes I don't even habe to be IN it to be scared, just driving by them can get me wigged out sometimes...
