I'm 17 male and have ASD/vcfs and every time someone thinks that I need special help I would always get really mad at them and want them to go away. People think that I suck at doing other activity and that I need someone to act like my special aide and I just get really offended. I get talked down to like a 5 year old kid and I find it really frustrating. They think that they are better than me at the project and I just don't feel like I need that kind of extra help. I also sometimes a underachiever and I screw up a lot of the time and the people try to correct me and I just want to throw something at them. They look at me and go "No you got this all wrong here let me show you" and I feel like a idiot when someone helps me. I would like to know am I the only one in this situation?

I don't like people trying to help me unless I really have a problem and seek out help myself.

I usually hate it when people help me, unless I ask, which I hate to do. And I hate it when people ask me for help, when they can do it by themselves. :P

If someone asks me if I need help when I don't, I'll get annoyed. I don't like asking for help much, either.

I don't like it when people try to help me, but some people make me angrier than others. I hate it when my father offers me help. It makes me feel like I'm not good enough. If my grandmother offers me help, I don't mind at all. I don't know why I feel like this. I think it has something to do with their attitude and/or tone of voice when they offer the help. My father always comes across as a condescending know-it-all.

I also hate when I go in a store and people ask if I need help finding anything. For some reason that makes me mad. But then, when I do need help I'm afraid to ask for it.

Ugh! I just hate people.

I prefer to do a task alone because then I know how and when it will get done.

I hate when I am given a task to do and I have plans on how to do it but before I am able to finish someone else does it for me.

I also don't like help, or asking for help.

Well that sort of thing certainly does bother me.......like I hate going anywhere where I need to talk to people with my mom like the bank, the college financial aid department or anything else because she has a tendency to try and speak for me so annoying I know how to talk sometimes it just takes a moment for me to get the words out in a way that makes sense I don't need her to speak for me.

reminds me of my mother....
who never answers when a question is posed to her
but always ready to blurt out on my behalf...

I get so angry when people try to help me, even when i really do need help i want to do it all myself. When people use to hold the door for me when i had my child in a stroller i use to get mad and put my head down and say thanks. I think how i could manage by myself and if i really need help i will ask. But i do feel bad becasue there are people out there that want to help me but i am always angry when they try to help me.

If they try to impose help, I tend to react. I tend to respond if they ask how they can help, ask if they can help, or tell a story about their success or struggle in a similar matter.

You are not alone. People talk down to me and I was an A average at University lol. They mistake my social awkwardness for a lack of IQ.

Sometimes I do. It's mostly because I feel like that person doesn't know me. So at times I get defensive and tell them off. It's hard because most people really don't understand what its like.

What bothers me is that people tend to ask you if you need help when you clearly don't. And when they insist on helping you after you've told them that you don't want or need it, then I start fantasizing about punching them in the face since I can't do it without going to jail. It's also annoying when they keep asking, "Are you sure?" after you've said no. Of course, if you get angry and blow up at them, they play the victim card and act like they did nothing to deserve such treatment.
