Not exactly ASD, but then again, definitely not NT
Hello,
As a child, I was originally diagnosed with ADD, but would later be changed to AS, because of social difficulties I had as a kid. The labeling of AS would soon prove to become somewhat of a fluke, because my social impairments differed significantly from 'textbook Asperger's'. It's not a problem of a lack of Theory of Mind, but I just really never gave a damn about socialization. I understand all the rules, but I just can't seem to find any of what the NTs did was ever something I would enjoy. I also suffered from extreme social phobia (possibly genetic, as it seems to run through my mom's side of the family) which lead to further isolation from the community. For the record, my parents were also not the 'people people' and were rather reserved and stiff. When I asked my mom about the possiblity of a Misdiagnosis, I was informed that AS was simply a personality profile (which definitely is not the case) which lead to further questioning of the Dx. However, I am also not exactly a Neurotypical, as I do have some special 'obsessions', and also my ADD and TS. I also have a strong rejection of NT culture, as I believe it is something I cannot partake in.

I know of non-spectrum introverts 'get tired' in social situations and are generally asocial. It takes a much effort to meet these demands.
But I wonder if that difference between spectrum & NT is getting "tired" vs. exhaustion?
O.P. sounds similar to myself.

You can have all this and not meet the 299.80 DSM.
I guess it could depend on locality. I'm not one to play games or lie. I like it 'straight' without any implied meanings. I like the game of truth.
I feel the same.
I've grown tired of accounting for my behavior.
There is an INTJ forum that has like minded folks. I believe that introversion is innate-- primarily.
I think people try to model this" type" solely by environmental conditioning, but how can you account for this when there is "normal" significant human contact, raised in a typical home, without any type of inherited impairments or dysfunctions?
By far, introverts are introverts by biology.
I do, and ADHD folk do or can have special (even consuming) obsessions.
Also to add:
Gifted people( high IQ) can have some problems with social rules or ToM.
These are some examples of 'significant clusters' of people (seems to me) that would be considered nuero- atypical.
