Just out in the kitchen and I saw a razor blade and an exacto knife and suddenly got the urge to cut myself. I don't know why.

Feeling depressed?
Got to much cramped-up energy?

Just get some exercise, it's a cure-all for self-destruction.

I sometimes get that strange feeling when I see knives and things around, but I'm too much of a wimp to actually consider harming myself. Just get some exercise, as Wallourdes has suggested. It helps, as much as I'm reluctant to admit it. :D

Cutting certainly isn't the right way to go about releasing built-up energy. Exercise that gets your heart pumping will stop that urge to cut.

I struck myself in the head really hard yesterday for the first time in years. I was so frustrated with a bunch of work that got dumped on me with no warning. I went for a walk and when I came back I was able to focus on the work and scream through it in no time. Gotta watch that.

If the urge to cut is based on feeling some sort of sensation, when I used to get the urge it helped a lot to get in the shower and turn it freezing cold.

OCD maybe??

OCD makes you have disturbing thoughts that you dont want the think or do...these are called intrusive thoughts. OCD is not a sign of ASD's but for some reason hitches a ride with ASD's often.
OCD can also be sudden onsetting. So keep an eye out for any other unwanted thoughts...if they increase, then you need to see a doctor.

When you get any unwanted thoughts, I've found it helpful to respond with a positive or non-harmful activity. Exercising, taking a walk, fidget toys or even a rubber band around your wrist can distract you enough to get the urge out of your system. And if you think this urge could be potentially overpowering I'd speak to someone. Good luck- stay strong!
