Me too. I like being myself and be in control of myself. Stimulants dont let you do that. They take control. That scares me.

Different strokes for different folks.

Stimulant medication has quite literally saved my life.

they help me a lot when i bring myself to take them...but afterward and often during i am extremely anxious and my skin is crawling.

i've tried em all cept for desoxyn which will obviously never happen.

low medium and high dosage all the same side effects.

ritalin based drugs dont seem to have as much side effects but don't work either.

Up until a month ago, I hated having my son on stimulants. The stimulants definitely helped with focus, but he just seemed . . . unhappy on them. He was taking an anti-anxiety with the stimulants, and although it helped, it wasn't working super well.

The doctor changed up the anti-anxiety, and now, my son is feeling SO MUCH BETTER. From my point of view, my son is now acting like he does when he is NOT on his meds -- he's fun, happy, and feeling good that school is easier for him as well. He's also a regular teenager -- he's goofy, talks back to me (as in, he's kind of snotty sometimes), and is standing up for himself.

The anti-anxiety is Cymbalta -- but I've heard others say that it didn't work for them. We had tried Celexa and Lexapro, and they didn't work much for my son. I guess you keep switching around the anti-anxiety/anti-depressant until you find something that works.

I have 120 Dexedrine tablets and 20 Adderall tablets sitting next to me on my bedside dresser. I definitely do not hate stimulants.

OP, have you tried Dexedrine? The single enantiomer results in a far smoother, less jittery effect than Adderall.

I'm HATE methylphenidate products.

Celexa obliterates my anxiety. Celexa and amphetamine remove 75 percent of the disabling features of my autism, leaving plain old happy, productive, autistic Scotty.

yes i've tried all of them in all forms.

the tablets espcially are even worse for me.

granted i am only able to get the barr brand which is supposedly the worst but i can get name brand adderall xr.

although seems like barr is the only one who makes the dextroamphetamine tablets...last time i checked anyways.

Obviously you may not be able to do much with this suggestion, butnit sounds like Desoxyn would be right up your alley. If you have responded poorly to everything else, and have a very daring doctor, you may have a chance. Unlikely... but there are people out there who take it.

The worst a doc can say is no. Oh, and, "Get out of my office and never come back." silly stigmas.

ya, it's not on my insurance plan and i wouldn't be able to afford it...

i wish though, seems like it's a superior drug with fewer side effects.

I really liked them when they worked at all. I was on Adderall for a while and it really improved my life. Asking my doctor to discontinue it was one of the worst decisions I'd ever made. The other stimulants I tried so far (Strattera and Dexedrine) did next to nothing for me. So far Adderall has been the only drug that really gave me any relief from depression. I've tried a whole bunch of SSRIs and I'm now on a tricyclic anti-depressant and they've done nothing except give me side effects (dry mouth, excessive perspiration)

I believe it. I was on a couple of those drugs (Cymbalta and Cipralex which is the same drug as Lexapro) and they did nothing for me either. For me the withdrawal when going off the Cymbalta was particularly nasty (frequent "brain zaps" and excessive feelings of aggression).

The problem with stimulants is that you can't take just one and have it last all day. Not even Daytrana or Vyvanse lasts more than ten hours max.
