can one have bipolar then it go away for many years then it come back?

i was diagnosed as bipolar at 13 (before AS diagnosis) (im 21 now) i was on meds for it throughout teenage years till about 17 when i was taken off the meds due to side affects and the fact that I didnt really present as bipolar (by then we had the AS diagnosis) ive been okay since then but latly ive been wondering if the diagnoses was correct ive been having episodes of feeling extremly slow thought proccessing no energy at all yet ive also been having periods of feeling so hyper that i laughed so hard i was seeing colors can i have your opinion?

Bipolar looks different in kids than adults. You may have been bipolar this whole time, but it just recently has looked more like adult bipolar. Many people don't get diagnosed until their 20's when the bipolar is looking more like a textbook case.

Yes, it is possible. You are also at the right age it normally manifests, so I wouldn't be surprised you are having symptoms again. Luckily there's been quite a few meds introduced in the last 8 years.

I wouldn't be surprised if something else was going on too. Totally could be bipolar, but the laughing so hard you are seeing colours? I haven't heard of a manic phase being like that before. However, I will admit that I don't know anything about bipolar other than how it affects me personally.

You can get some pretty long periods between cycles, or it could've been that because your meds were taking care of the symptoms during your teen years.
