Is it normal for one who is bipolar to have a rude tone of voice when asking questions or simply speaking to you about something?

Is it common for them to say mean and offensive things, and not mean to come off as cold hearted, even though they do?

I do not mean to say I am calling anybody who is bi polar like this. Reason I ask these questions is because I have a family member who is like this, and I believe it was said some time somewhere by this person that they are bipolar, so it might help me to know if this is very common for people that are BiPolar.

I think it's more an ASD thing than BP specific. People on the spectrum are far more likely to do that and BP can be co-morbid with AS.

I am pretty sure my family member is not autistic.

Maybe this person is just a mean old human being... IDK

LOL that could be
I'm Italian and I find other Italians or even Greeks to be very mean sometimes. I worked for another Italian family once and I wanted to off myself because I couldn't take how they treated me. I was one their longer lasting employees the place went through people like water because the bosses were pricks.

BPD patients can be very irritable at times and not even realize they're doing it. Binging attention to the fact that they ARE doing it, can make them madder. Before I got on meds, I used to snap at people all the time, and could be in a grumpy mood for months. From experience, I would say that this could absolutely be present in a bipolar person.

If you are hypomanic or manic totally normal. Anyway who starts questioning your high is going to cop it. You are always right when you feel like this and you have little to no interest in how you affect the other person.
