I have a mild AS diagnosis, and was told that my attention problems have to do with AS, but I'm starting to question that.

My symptoms:

-Executive functioning:
I am messy in my own space and have all my things lying on the floor everywhere
I don't enforce an organization system out of my own will, but am told that my organization skills are good by employers, but I do make an extra effort and take extra time to organize at work
I don't plan out activities or my day very well. I have a list of things that I know I have to do, but I don't plan out how to make it happen, so it doesn't end up happening.
I have trouble organizing my thoughts when communicating with others

-Attention:
I usually go off topic, or my mind wanders in conversations unless it is something that interests me. My mind wanders a lot in lectures and I end up thinking about something unrelated to the course.
I don't focus for as long as others when completing tasks. For example, when studying, I will finish a couple of questions, then take a break, or multitask with another assignment, then come back to it or be too distracted to continue.
I have trouble following along in long conversations which require remembering many steps in a problem
I can't sit still. I usually am moving my leg when I have to sit for long periods of time, and I used to go out and run when I couldn't concentrate on a difficult task.

That's all I can think of for now. If there's anything I missed, please let me know.

I have a friend who has ADHD and I am able to relate. I don't think I get hyperactive, but instead I daydream or have my mind wander. In case anyone is wondering, I am a woman, in case the symptoms show differently?

I'm a man, and lately I've been wondering if I have ADD.

When I was a kid in school, "ADD" back then meant ADHD today. The then-ADD kids were hyper, loud, all over the place. They didn't seem to know, much less care that there was a class room etiquette.

So I grew up thinking ADD = hyperactive, and therefore couldn't apply to me.

My situation is very much like yours. My own stuff is disorganized and all over the place. I have ideas for organization, but never follow through with them, or come to hate the organizational systems I've tried to create. And my mind is all over the place.

Were you actually diagnosed with EFD?, because I'm starting to think I may have a disorder with executive functioning and perhaps it ties in with undiagnosed ADD.

I remember a co-worker and I were talking once. He loved going to the movies, but I told him that personally, I find it difficult to sit through a movie for a couple hours. I like to watch movies at home at my own leisure, and if I get bored or distracted, I can finish the movie later. He asked me, half jokingly, if I had ADD. Now I'm starting to wonder.

No, but my brother and sister have been diagnosed with EFD, and my second sister has organizational difficulties that the school is monitoring, but I'm not sure if she's diagnosed. None of my siblings have been identified for any other disability or disorder (except both my sisters were identified as gifted).

I'm not actually sure how much EFD plays into ADD.

I find that I have many of the symptoms for adult ADD listed on this site:

http://www.helpguide.org/mental/adhd_ad ... mptoms.htm

and it does have a section for Disorganization and Forgetfulness.

Speaking of the website, it reminds me of more symptoms.

I usually procrastinate
I will misplace my items, and not remember where I put them
I often underestimate how much time it takes me to do a task

I am bad a self-control
I just realised exactly how rude I appear to people when I say things without fully thinking them through
I will get addicted to things easily, which is why I never do drugs or drink. It's usually bad or good habits that I must compulsively do every day, or things like coffee or shopping that lift my mood.
I used to take risks without thinking of the consequences, but I'm a lot better now.

I feel like an underachiever
I can be very emotional and have many mood swings
I'm easily stressed and don't deal with frustration at all
I will often change interests because of my lack of motivation
I am sensitive to criticism
I have low self esteem

I get bored easily
My thoughts race and I notice how hard it is for people to follow my line of thought sometimes
I do a million things at once

...And a lot more of those bullets that I didn't mention, but felt were similar to things I have already said.
