Okay just wanted to see if anyone else has had weird experiences on Ritalin (methylphenidate). I'm supposed to have co-morbid ADHD and have resisted medication for 35 years. Finally decided to go on Ritalin (what my psychiatrist suggested) at 10mg x 3 a day....

I'm having some of the most bizarre symptoms:

Hot flashes, much like PMS/menopause ones
Moments of very extreme, uncharacteristic aggression and agitation (I'm usually a very tense person-- I also have C-PTSD and Generalized Anxiety disorder.)
Feelings of electricity going through my limbs
Hyperfocus on thoughts and other things that make me more distracted (I missed my exit off of the highway to work this morning and had to turn around)

Those are the ones that are strange. Of course I'm going to bring all of this up to my doc, I just wanted to see if anyone had any similar reactions to stimulants, either Ritalin or Adderall (brand name US).
Thanks for your input!

Also, I don't think this drug is good for me; I can't use my "crutches" on Ritalin and it's even more disorienting being on the drug than sober (even with all of my hyperactivity and "concept soup" style of full-head thoughts sober).

Help? 8O

My AS/ADD neighbor (he's 12 or 13) had similar problems on it. Actually, he's had problems on all the ADD medications. I'd say his ADD is quite severe compared to the AS even. Some people just don't respond well to ritalin and other ADD drugs.

Yeah my ADD is severe as well; I finally gave in to medication, too bad it sounds like I may not find relief with any of them> :(
