So, my doctor switched me from Concerta 54mg and a 10mg Adderall booster to Vyvanse 30mg once daily. I started taking it yesterday, but the thing is, it's really... smooth. As in, I can't feel when it starts working, but I know it's working. And I also don't really notice when it wears off. My question, for those of you who've taken Vyvanse, is how long does Vyvanse last for you? The doctor said it should last 12-14 hours in adults. Does it last around 12-14 hours for you? What are your experiences on Vyvanse like?

My son takes it for ADHD. I give it to him about 5:30am when I get up then let him go back to sleep. The dex in it kicks in about an hour after the dose, which is when I wake him up for school. The rest of it kicks in about three hours after the dose and does seem to work for him for a good 12-15 hours. It doesn't mess with his appetite or sleeping like other meds, and unlike other meds, he doesn't feel the speedy buzz which makes him nervous. I think it's a great med and I'd suggest it to anyone.

My doctor switched my from Adderall to Vyvanse as well. At first, I loved it! The smoothness you mention was amazing to me. It lasts about 13 hours for me, so that's right on target. However, the downside is, it makes me jittery and "twitchy", wheras on Adderall, I felt much calmer.

What dosage are you taking?

At first, I was on the highest dose, then progressively (because I told my doctor I hated it) was "stair-stepped" down to the lowest dose (20 mg). I experienced "twitchyness" throughout each and every dose; and people told me I was "off" and not in a good way.

Yea maximum dosage is not a fun thing at all for anyone wanting to know
you end up so focused that you cant focus because it feels like an itch you cannot scratch
almost like you want to just want to spread you're eyes apart.
Sorry if this is a bump but i hope some people get some time saved with this drug

P.S.
it is really deceiving at first
if it works it will be you're miracle drug
then you're body might become dependent on it and could cause
a depression that literally has no solution except to wait for the drug to wear off
then you could end up at max dosage and you feel unstoppable (mentally at least)
then you might end up perfect for the rest of you're life or the drug might focus you enough
to trigger an fixation(for me it is video games) and you doubt you're abilities
until you realize you're focused on an unproductive task. (Keep in mind this is what happened to me it can react either a little or a lot differently)

The first couple drugs I tried were Concerta and Adderal. I loved the Adderal, hated the Concerta. My doctor has now put me on Vyvanse. I've only taken it once so far, and my first impression of it wasn't good. It didn't help me focus, I was anxious (but that may have been the environment). I 'felt' it for only a couple hours, but I was wide awake for a really really long time (pretty much all day, which I guess is nice).

My guess is that it isn't a high enough dosage (I'm on 30mg). But I'm not sure I like the idea of being wired all day like that. I probably should have voiced louder that I actually want something short.... like a good burst, like the Addy did. But she really wanted to see how I'd like all day effects.

I probably should give it a couple more days before really pinning down my opinion. I've been avoiding it though. xD I'm the most productive in the mornings when I get up, so I'm always hesitant to take it, and then by afternoon I'm afraid to take it and have it disrupt my very nice sleep cycles. :/ It's also break right now for me, and I want to stay somewhat relaxed during it...

I also don't mind the ups and downs of Addy. In fact, I rather like it.

I guess I'll report back after trying Vyvanse some more.

Now I'm on 50mg. It works for 12-13 hours. Downside is that it takes about an hour-and-a-half to kick in. Three hours after that is when it seems to peak. So after it's been in my system for around five hours, it's a slow, smooth drop until 12-13 hours. Then I'm back to my old self. I should mention that the concentration effects wear off after about ten hours, but I still feel calm for another 2-3 hours.

Is there anyone in the Planet that is still taking Vyvanse?

I'm on 30 mg, and actually so are each of my kids. I find after an hour, I really start to feel "compassion" and better decision making. Usually I walk around the house in the morning, energy filled, thinking "I SHOULD get that done, and I SHOULD get this done"... but I don't even get to my thought process and I've already started it or got it done :)

My kids appetites are a mess though. My daughter's doctor said he will have to take her off of it soon if she doesn't gain more weight. My son, who has Asperger's, only ever had a food acceptance of 10 things.... carb, chicken nugget and sugar based... so this really is quite the challenge for me.

My Question is........ twice, since October I was unable to take my dose. The pharmacy couldn't get my repeat in time and Thanksgiving got in the way and Family Day too (I have hoarded an emergency stash since then).... I was sooooooo cranky, bitchy, mean/spiteful and I swear I could have tore up my marriage in one day if I didn't lock myself away in a room - I knew how I was acting, but I just couldn't stop. Has anyone else felt this way.... and what other side affects did you experience long term. I can deal with it... I'm just worried for my kids.

Thanks so much for any help..

Christine
