I'll make this short. After being put on Carbamazepine I have begun to have auditory and visual hallucinations. The latter in which has been confined to my computer screen (Seeing demonic dog heads when I'm really tired. Not fun) and hearing voices of family members when they're not at homes. My medication is as follows...

Abilify
Zoloft
Wellbutrin XL
Carbamazepine

The Carbamazepine is the medicine that I was recently put on and this is when these hallucinations started. This is a issue - A big issue. Can Carbamazepine prompt hallucinations?

The Wikipedia page for Carbamazepine.

The only side affect that is anywhere auditory listed on that page is as follows...

Quote:
There are also rare reports of an auditory side-effect for carbamazepine use, whereby patients perceive sounds about a semitone lower than previously...

None of your other medications appear to have side-affects that cause auditory/visual hallucinations. I know for a fact that Wellbutrin does not as I was on it. To answer your question, no, hallucinations have not been recorded to be caused by Carbamazepine, however, this medication could possibly be aggravating an existing condition.

Also, obligatory phrase: you should see your doctor.

That is happening too. Music sounds different, like an octave lower.

FDA report says Wellbutrin XL can cause hallucinations.

Oh, jeeze. I'm so sorry I missed that. Whoops on both my and the doctor who prescribed it to me's fault.

I hope you found the answer you wanted?

My medication was changed. So far I haven't had any problems.

Thank you for the assistance though!
