Difficulty leaving the house is very disabling . I can leave the flat with my stepdaughter/granddaughters but have an abject fear about venturing out on my own. For me it centres round getting lost and trapped.

Or just an extreme inability to navigate?

I'm not sure about Agoraphobia, though it was briefly mentioned years ago. I am not sure it's an 'extreme' inability but I do have a poor sense of direction.

Having a smartphone and Google maps eliminates the anxiety of getting lost for me. It is impossible to get lost with Google in your hand. I too have a really poor sense of direction.

There's google maps on the phone I've borrowed but (a) I can only work out how to make calls (b) I'm useless with maps.

Re a)If I had an instruction book/leaflet b) There hasn't been much,if any, improvement in 60 years. I'm really not expecting it.

a) give me the model & make and I'll find you instructions b) Google maps has voice guided navigation
