I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child. I'm not sure if it actually was ADHD or something else that was causing attention problems that seemed like ADHD.

One question I've had for a while is why I have a diagnosis of ADHD on paper but I'm not actually taking any of the drugs commonly used to treat ADHD. I just figured that the combination of Seroquel and Clomipramine was keeping my ADHD under control somehow. The Seroquel is for Tourette's and the Clomipramine I for OCD. I thought maybe they have also been helping me with whatever problems I've had paying attention in the past.

That wasn't the whole explanation. Why wouldn't I have at least tried ADHD meds? It turns out I did but I never remembered it. I just had a conversation with my mom about my childhood history and it turns out I had an adverse reaction to Ritalin. I went on a rampage. I just started throwing everything on the floor and across the room, yelling, and destroying things. I was out of control. The first time that happened my mom thought I just needed more Ritalin but that only made it even worse.

Now it makes sense. I'm not on ADHD meds because they just cause more problems for me.

Sounds about right. I've heard of some really severe side effects.

I've known people that have been on ADHD meds for years and hardly anything (adverse) happens to them.

People with autism are more sensitive to the medication and only require a small dose.

It's good to hear though that your side effect wasn't permanent. Others don't get that lucky.
