Limited options in registering for Wrong Planet

Hello

I signed up for Wrong Planet, and looked at the diagnosis options. I clicked "neurotypical" because it seemed closest to the truth, but still not adequate. Are more options being added or can they be?

What option do you want?

I put down other autism spectrum disorder because what I have is the closest you can get for it on here. I'm definitely not NT, though.

"none of the above" would be fine

I'm diagnosed as having Personality Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDNOS, not to be confused with PDDNOS). I'm not on the autism spectrum, but that doesn't mean my mind is typical in the way it works.

I'm also Transgender (officially diagnosed), but also don't have this option.

I agree. I have Schizophrenia and would at least like a 'none of the above' option. I don't have Autism and I'm not on the spectrum so I put 'Neurotypical' as well.

I agree. None of the above sounds like a good idea.

What about "other" rather than "none of the above"? Somehow the phrasing of none of the above feels negative to me, but maybe that's just my personal feeling. Also, "other" could include more than one possibility - like autism + other condition such as schizophrenia.

Whatever the phrasing, I agree that it's a good idea. I'd also like a "decline to answer" option for those who want to participate without broadcasting their status.

I would like to opt for 'other'. I received the rather surprising results of a clinical test today. I still may have autism (I'm not going to bother with an official diagnosis), so I'll leave it at "don't know" and have written the clinical diagnosis in my signature.

I'd like an option for 'non-autistic neuroatypical', too. Even though I wouldn't use it myself.

Soo...how do we get this done? How are changes formally proposed here?

There should also be other options for gender and not just "male" and "female.
I'm officially FtM-Transgender with name change and operation. A high percentage of people in the autism spectrum are Transgender.

by diagnosis there could be as an example:
- ADHD
- anxiety disorders
- schizophrenic spectrum disorders
- personality disorders
- mood disorders
- other

maybe someone has other examples or another idea?

I think this is a good idea.

I'm curious; do you have any studies to reference for this? I'm probably a bit more autism-ignorant than most people on WrongPlanet; I haven't heard about a connection with it and being trans.

"Only case reports have described the co-occurrence of gender identity disorder (GID) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This study examined this co-occurrence using a systematic approach. Children and adolescents (115 boys and 89 girls, mean age 10.8, SD = 3.58) referred to a gender identity clinic received a standardized assessment during which a GID diagnosis was made and ASD suspected cases were identified. The Dutch version of the Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (10th rev., DISCO-10) was administered to ascertain ASD classifications. The incidence of ASD in this sample of children and adolescents was 7.8% (n = 16). Clinicians should be aware of co-occurring ASD and GID and the challenges it generates in clinical management."

I read the first article; it seems to actually be saying that they found a lot of kids with ASD and GID-NOS that then "disappeared" later. They actually only found the one kid who had ASD and full GID. To me that would indicate that a lot of people with ASD would be genderqueer, and not transsexual. You said transgender, which I guess as a term can include genderqueer people, but seems to imply either ftm or mtf.

Second one of course there's not much you can actually read of it without paying.
