But i have a friend who is female, well its my sisters friend but we are all close the same, anyway im kinda wondering whats wrong with her...
she spent a lot of her childhood without anyone really, quite sad i know, but she seems to want to ruin her life, at every turn and she seems totally unconcerned with the consequences.. a few examples
She got a free grant to go to university (state provides for underprivliidged or something) so she went to uni, racked up debt and failed.. no problem state gives another year, she barely went to any lessons and obviously failed again.
Now she is moving out of her student flat into another 2 weeks before she should (illegally too, because she wont pay council tax because they think shes a student), she also has no means to make the quarterly payments and can only make monthly... which shes been told is off the table entirely...
Any money she has she spends with wild abandon she also trusts people, bad people, like gang bangers and stuff like that.. she seems to have a childish naivity about her.. could someone tell me if they know of a condition where someone behaves irrationally financially and friendshiply and behaviourly, ive never known anyone like it..

i hope this is the right forum

oh: Edit, her dad had quite severe schizophrenia and killed someone hence her not having anyone, and quite a clear indication of mental illness in her family... but it doesn't sound schizophrenic to me?

The part about moving early with no means of paying just sounds like a bad choice and because she can. I would think it was just growing up alone and having to do her own thing has lead to this. So bad choices and being alone/ having no one to teach you things or help you grow up might do this. I mean How would you be if you grew up alone with a murder as a dad?

Also i know lots of people liek this. They know its a bad idea but they do it anyway because they can. As someone with aspie it makes no sense but believe it or not some people dont care.

Sounds a little like me, and some of my friends in our youth. I wonder if a lack of positive role models might have something to do with it. I (mostly) grew out of it pretty quickly, but some people never do.

Thats what im thinking. Growing up with bible thumper family when i was 17 and met a 13 year old girl who was drinking till she blacked out hooked on cigarettes having sex with guys 10 years older than her getting pregnant smoking pot driving drunk. it was so weird to me that people would actually do those things but they do.

I will say that mental illness is genetic alot of times though, so it might be that but i wouldn't bet on it.

i think what has happened here, is ive tryed to find an explanation rather than confront a quite glaring truth (because we are friends obviously), that shes probably just feckles and doesn't really want to change at all, which is sad because when i was growing up alot of older kids stuck in the same pattern would talk to us and id feel sorry for them and it was mainly through being lazy and feckless and "Dont care about nothing" attitude, but with her i guess i was trying to find a 3rd party explanation.

That does happen i had a friend who started drinking and doing pot and i had to tell him goodbye. While it is possible she has a mental illness in her genes. And it make come out. I think the kinda irrational decisions people with schitzo make are like setting houses on fire, really big things. but i dont know exactly what it is but as you said her father murdered someone so untill she does that or something like it i wouldn't assume she has a mental disorder.
