The entire thing you described is often called "Being Smart."

... that's all. Not insanely or even unusually smart, but very smart. I'm much the same way, and if you're entirely honest with yourself and avoid any magical thinking (ie, Use the Scientific Method), you'll find that you're just using context clues and paying close attention to words in the first place. You, like anyone, have been exposed to FAR more language than you think.

This might be considered "Verbal-Linguistic Intelligence" from the theory of multiple intelligences.

The eight intelligences in the theory are verbal, logical (mathematics), visual-spatial, musical, interpersonal (relationship with others), intrapersonal (relationship with self), kinesthetic (body movement) and naturalistic (relationship with the outdoors).

Growing up, I shared several characteristics you mention. I was in a group in school for kids with above-average verbal-linguistic intelligence, and some displayed traits like this, though perhaps not all of them shared them to the same degree.

With lots of practice and in a fortunate situation I became fluent in a language in a little over a year. I taught myself how to read at two years old. I excelled in foreign language classes in high school, and I find learning languages comes naturally to me. I love playing with words, for example, taking them apart and spelling them backwards, rhyming, creating and solving anagrams, etc.
