I can't find too much useful info online, so I thought this would be the place to go.

Here's my question, short and sweet: Is Tourette syndrome a disqualifier for obtaining a commercial driver's license? For me, I have only one really notable tic, and it's a jerking/bending of my waist. I believe that if I take the right meds (with the right dosage), I can get rid of it by the time I turn 21, which is when I would plan to start training.

Or am I automatically ineligible for getting a CDL, regardless of the severity of my tics?

Thank you for your help!

Edit: I wasn't sure if this belonged in this forum section or the "Work and Finding a Job" one, so if it needs to be moved, so be it.

No I don't think it is an automatic disqualifier for obtaining any type of driving license. It possibly all depends on the type of tic, severity, the medication side affects and anything else that goes comorbid like Asperger, anxiety/depression ADHD etc.

All I found on the web is a UK based fact sheet called Transport issues and Tourette Syndrome http://www.tourettes-action.org.uk/stor ... nsport.pdf Otherwise the qualifiers are possible different but at the least similar depending on country/state etc.

It advises that it should be disclosed before taking any form of test, I think you may get a more clear answer if you could ask a CDL coordinator
