What's your opinion of the UK's 'community care' system?
I personally think there couldn't be a more hypocritical euphemism... as what's happening is that people who can't cope all alone end up committing what society sees as a crime (if, of course, they don't commit suicide, which many are doing), despite it being committed out of desperation and their mental condition... and, of course, the cycle continues on and as there are very few mental health hospitals they just get thrown in jail. I always think that historical figures who ended up in asylums and hospitals were actually lucky, even if there may have been some systematic abuse... someone potentially taking care of them is always better than just being left to rot in one's own residence...
I'm personally scared... statistically this almost guarantees that I'll end up in jail at some point in my life due to the unbearability of my fate.
Well care in the community was a nice idea, but sadly it failed in many ways.
The idea was to give the long term mentally ill or disabled a better life by allowing them to live in their own homes like "regular" people, the problem was that too little money was spent on supporting these people in the community, I would say a more accurate term for it was "uncare in the community".

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.
