Well, my worst nightmare has apparently come true.

I have Tourettes, and over the past few days, I've to swear uncontrollably. It's not really uncontrollable because I know when it's coming, but I eventually will do it. I hate it so much. What am I supposed to do now?

have you told people you have to be around that you are subject to these things? do the profane outbursts get diminished in their relief if you do them into a pillow or purse?

Some of my friends know I have Tourettes, but I haven't told them that I've started swearing because of it.

Could it help if you had some people in whose company you would not need to care about it and who would know to listen it with its real meaning that is: "pla, pla ,pla" ?
It may get milder or go away with time.

do not worry too hard about it, although I know that is hard.

I have tourettes and have had coprophilia for several years with varying intensity. It it sometime very inconvenient, especially when giving public talks or in libraries and quiet places but the more you stress about it the worse it'll get.

if you do swear just try and move on as best you can, because you can't stop it and giving it more attention can just magnify the problem.
If you have some control you could try and integrate it more into your speech patterns ( i chose to give a presentation on a film with a swear in it so I try to just flow it into the films name) if you're concerned with people thinking you're not NT. But your mileage may vary with that course of action.

I've Tourette's too and I've copropraxia and I've the same opinion. In Tourette's those things which you like the least, because you give them attention and think about them and that increases those copro-tics even further. Sometimes when I've to tic in public and it's going to be copropraxia, I can tic a similar tic instead who is not copropraxia. Have you the possibility going to a therapist and who is experienced in Tourette's who can work out methods with you?
