What the article described sounds like a potentially useful grounding technique nothing all that new, it sounds very similar to things I've already attempted in therapy which are very hard to do especially since sometimes due to sensory issues things in the environment/outside world can be causing discomfort also with the PTSD there are lots of external triggers so focusing on surroundings wouldn't be helpful if I get triggered. ....also I think excessive worrying or getting stuck on racing thoughts and such are more symptoms of mental illness than a cause.
So I think the articles claim that this grounding technique would 'cure' Depression, Anxiety and other mental illnesses is far fetched.
