Do most of the people that work in fast food restaurants in your area don't do their job well? I.e. rude, mess your order a lot, keep you waiting for a long time?

Where I live (charleston SC) just about every fast food restaurant is like this within a 40 mile radius. I love SC but that's one thing that makes the area displeasing.

I think that's just the nature of the fast food industry in the U.S. The combination of low wages, non-existent benefits, an unpleasant work environment, and unstable work hours repulse quality applicants. These same factors result in a high turnover rate, so new employees are often coming and going and in training, and the workers hate the job and don't take it seriously.

Oh, you meant worse than normal service. Nevermind.

The Mcdonald's near my workplace is okay during lunch but during breakfast, it's terrible. They're constantly messing up my order or are taking far too long even when the place is dead.

The other day I tried the Arby's near my work and they aren't efficient either. The cashier was being far too urgent and in his haste, he didn't give me the right size meal I wanted and I even ended up with the wrong sandwich.

Still nothing beats the time my friend and I waited for 45 minutes at the front counter of a KFC because we realized that the management was more interested in entertaining relatives that were in the dining room than they were actually working. We were idiots back then,

A friend and I went to a Sizzler's in NY once. After they sat us down they forgot about us - no water, nothing. After 30 minutes we left.

Chick Fil A is the only place I have found that has consistently good service for a fast food place. It's part of their culture. When you say "Thank you" to the server who helped you, they are trained to very specifically say "My pleasure," not you're welcome or anything else. They will also bring food to your table during busy hours, to prevent build up of people waiting for their order.

Everywhere else, it's a crap shoot as to what level of service you get, although in my experience, McDonalds tends to be the worst.

Here are not that many fastfood restaurants, but the ppl who work there are quite alright. But I live in Germany in a smaller city. There is also a McDonalds in my city I've never been to, so I can't say anything about their service.

I think you bring a really good point here. If I got hired at a fast food joint, I would sure hate it and probably not be the most friendly at times, wish I could tell people to shut up, and likely get mixed up with things.

Yeah I found in my area, just about all the fast food restaurants are bad in terms of service. When it comes to wait times, I agree that KFC is he worse! I think the reason why is because chicken takes a long time to cook. When a moron forgets to put something in the oven (and they often do) it takes much longer with chicken then other stuff. That might be why when your in a drive through, you'll often find people often saying they are out of certain things.
