Its not uncommon for aspies to have trouble with stress tolerance. Be it the sensory overload or and overloaded working memory, us on the spectrum seem to be anxiety prone.

So, as an aspie, I have found it difficult to face stressful situations. Despite how much I expose myself to the stressors, I continue to avoid and procrastinate. Even when I face it head on or do it loads of times.

As an aspie, what can I do to increase mu tolerance for stress? I'm a lightweight when it comes to that and it seems NT's just don't get it.

I also have lots of stress and I don't really know how to prevent what life brings but when I feel stressed out, I stream some favorite music or TV episodes on my computer and it helps me calm down.

Listening to a fan or an air conditioner or heater also helps me relax. I don't know if it would bother your sensory but I like it.

Hope this helps. :)

With stress I automatically enter into a paranoid state, a panic attack or a meltdown. Listening to video game music and reading about them I find helps me calm down at times, but not all the time.
