Can someone explain Non-verbal Learning Disorder to me? I read it was possibly linked/related to ASD. Is NVLD where you are mute and can't verbalize? Is it a physical inability to speak? What is it like and how do people with the disorder cope?

No no no, that's not what it is at all. It's just like Asperger's, except with more negatives. Most of us have trouble with visual-spatial skills and mathematics, along with the normal social deficiencies and all that jazz. I don't know how to cope with it; it's easily the most hindering of the five disorders I have.

I probably just confused it with another disorder.

NVLD does not affect social skills the way Asperger does.

What? Yes it does. Look it up. Maybe not to the same severity. I don't know; I have both.

Sometimes, I think I hear all of the words, but in a separate, disjointed way. I am reminded of what dyslexics report, when they read.

The only thing I can really think of is that NVLD isn't necessarily associated with a lack of "theory of mind" as autism is. However, if you look up the symptoms of both NVLD and AS, you'll find that social symptoms are almost identical. I don't think NVLDers necessarily have less social problems in general. I'm sure some do, but not all.
