I know the stereotype of us with ASD is that we are not interested in people and how they function. But I've always been super interested in psych, especially abnormal psych, ever since I was a kid. I think for me learning about psych has provided some relieve in understanding how others work so that they seem less.... random. For example, if I know someone has a disorder that makes them split on others, when they inevitably split on me, I remember what I've learned about splitting and reassure myself that it is not my fault for their behavior. Before learning about splitting, I definitely could not understand what was happening, because it is pretty confusing. Still is but it seems more logical. Somehow.

Anyone else?

Yes. I'm interested in different disabilities and mental illnesses and how they affect how people think and behave.

At one point in my life I was working towards a PhD in what I was hoping to be cognitive psychology. I stopped after an honors degree. Psychology in general is very interesting, I wouldn't call it a special interest I don't think though, I don't think I have those.

Yes, I love psychology! I started loving it even long before learning about AS.
Maybe when I retire I'll study a degree in Psychology :P

Yes, I studied neuroscience for five years, even though I'm really a musician.

I've been interested in psych stuff ever since I found out I was mentally screwed up most of my life from a counselor I saw after crashing out of the world and into the abyss... I never knew a damn thing about mental health and such until that point I just thought I was inept, I intend on having some kinda career in psychology eventually, I have most definitely been inspired by the professionals I've encountered over the last five years!

Yes, I've always been interested in psych- like you said to help me understand people so that they seemed less random.
I'm obsessed with staying on top of it and reading papers when I can and books- though I have much less access to those now that I'm not in university anymore. : /. Right now in particular specifically interested in psychopathy/Narcissistic personality disorder & AS & other mental disabilities/disorders that make people significantly different from others.

Psychology is awesome! Too bad I've had my share of "problematic" shrinks... ;)

I'm very fascinated in Psychology. I'm actually majoring in it in school currently. My mother was a Psychology major too and she teaches it so I think that is part of where my fascination came from.
