Delusion or Autism-Related Object Obsession?
For 8 years, I was fixated on a treasure box I owned in a way that I don't think most people would understand. I'm not going to go into it because it's very personal to me, and it's complex, but to sum things up I had a lot of delusions associated with this obsession, to the point where I was willing to kill others or kill myself over this fixation. When I was initially diagnosed with psychosis, I thought this phenomenon was part of my delusions, but now that I know I have autism, I'm thinking that it might have stemmed from an autistic fixation on objects, particular in childhood as this obsession started in my childhood. Or it could have stemmed from both, I really don't know. I'd like to know other's thoughts on this as I consider it a part of my identity/myself for some reason, I can't really explain why.
