My 6 year old (otherwise NT) daughter has recently begun something like tics. I can't decide if it's more OCD or more like a tic. Her father probably has Tourette's. Our other son has tons of tics.

Anyway, what is particularly bad about it is that a recently acquired "tic" (or whatever, compulsion may be a more appropriate word. She just says she *has* to do it and it's often in sets of 3)...a recent one is to completely dislocate her shoulder and then relocate it. Over and over and over. She's going to completely wreck her shoulder!!

I'm not entirely sure from which angle to approach this. Her shoulder joint is clearly unstable (does it need a splint, PT? Currently, I've just used KT tape). Or the behavioral side.

The psychologist I see once a month also treats tics, so I was going to start with him...since I already know he's good. And I trust him. And he also understand the genetic disorder my daughter and I share (that makes it possible for her to dislocate her shoulder at will).

What are helpful things to do/not do in the meantime?

I've always know the ASD stuff...that comes naturally. But this stuff...it comes from daddy...
