Now this might seem like a silly thing to ask, but I've been having the niggling feeling that I might have Bipolar disorder. I came to University this year and ever since I've had many problems with my mood that I just can't seem to iron out.

I was doing a test online and one of the questions is: Do you have racing thoughts?

I thought about it (Ironically) and I'm not sure I ever recognise when I'm overthinking things or thinking too fast.

Does anyone else struggle to gauge when this is happening with them? I sometimes feel like I can't think about a time when I have thought about anything in depth. I must be doing it, but for the life of me, I'm not overtly aware enough to know when and what about!

Does anyone else understand what I mean?

For me, I always know when I'm having them. I'm sure it happens all the time but I notice most when I'm in bed trying to get to sleep. It will be one thought after another or perhaps one phrase or conversation or event over and over again.

It sucks.

A meditation practice is great for this.
Sometimes I've just been going along with a vague feeling of anxiety, then when I stop and begin formal meditation, I realize my thoughts have been spinning overdrive and I hadn't recognized it. When you practice meditation you are directly focusing on your mind and recognizing that the thoughts are there, and giving yourself a break from the influence of your mind racing in the background.
