A Need To Feel Pain

When I was around 10, I used to get a frequent feeling nothing was real, I wasn't real and nothing is at all... And the only thing that would help that feeling just in the slightest was pain, like physical pain. I read up about a recent experience; I was in school, standing outside in the middle of loads of groups of people, and I was alone, I suddenly felt that same sort of feeling but very severe in comparison, I felt scared, like an alien and began crying; I read up it could be derealization, I'm just curious if I'm right or not.

I get this feeling to a certain extent, but nothing as bad as what you describe, for me it only happens under intense stress or anxiety and usually goes away pretty quick. I’m certainly not an expert, but it does sound like severe attacks of depersonalization or derealization, so I’d say you’re probably on to something.

It sounds like those things to me. I've had eps of it when I was suffering from a psychotic depression. The worst was when I slashed my arm 9x after my ex was bragging online about how she drank so much she had to get her stomach pumped. I felt like I was watching myself do it. I started seeing a psych after that & spent the next 5 years taking meds.
