I'm currently on Prozac and I have been on it for months now. I was expecting the terrible heart palpitations would go away by time but it seems like they're to stay. I run into this drug while searching for other options and saw that it's mainly used for OCD and I'm on medication mainly because of OCD myself. I'm thinking about getting my Prozac changed with this drug but before that I wanted to ask you guys how your experience with it has been.

I have been on 14 different antidepressants but fluvoxamine had the most intense and worst side effects of them all, intense dysphoria, headaches, spaced out, panic attacks to name a few. Anafranil is usually considered the gold standard for OCD, I would try that before Luvox.

Paroxetine out of Fluoxetine, Fluovoxamine, Citalopram, Escitalopram, and Paroxetine. Still not great but maybe youll have better luck. Antidepressants tend not to help my depression or anxiety for very long before they quit on me. I find their secondary attritubutes like anithistamine, use as a sleep aid, appetite stimulation to help me making them still useful.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is often more effective than medication for OCD.

Different people will respond differently to different medications and the only way to know how you will respond would be to try it.

Consider Sertraline (Zoloft). That's what I take for OCD. It's a cleaner (less side effects in general) medication overall than fluoxetine (Prozac) which helps also if you have multiple medications like I do. Fluvoxamine (Luvox) can be great for monotherapy, but it's a "dirty" medicine meaning lots of side effects, potentially.

Thank you for your reply. Zoloft was the first medication I was put on and i had bad side effects from it. I have been on Zoloft, Cipralex and Prozac. Now I'm on paroxetine (as neither fluvoxamine nor anafranil was fully paid by my insurance) and I don't have drastic side effects from it and it kinda works. I take it together with Abilify and occassional Xanax.

I don't have access to CBT as I live in a foreign country and I don't speak Czech well enough for therapy.

Ah stupid insurance companies, they pay for Abilify which is way more expensive than Anafranil but wont pay for Anafranil.

I guess different meds work for different people. Sorry to hear you don't have to access to CBT/ERP. I just went through a program of that and I still see a therapist. It is at least equally helpful as the medication, if not more so.
