Interesting interview with a woman that has 11 alters. She (as said in the comments) knows and is comfortable with the interviewer, so her 3-year-old girl alter comes out around 41:45. I never really knew much about it, so this was new info to me. Also mentioned is that they believe maybe 1 in 100 could have it?

A little bit of a trigger warning - she does mention the childhood horrors that this resulted from.

I saw this one a few days ago as well. It is really enlightening to learn about the disorder from her perspective, instead of what it is made out to be in popular culture. It also shows the devastating effects that early childhood trauma can have on that child’s entire life. I am very glad that she has had her alters to protect her from that, and that the brain can develop this coping mechanism. It makes complete sense to think about DID in this way. It isn’t some superhuman disorder made up for attention, it is merely the brain’s way of trying to process extreme stressors by dissociating. Great video.
