I take it for psychosis but have recently found out it has usage for people with autism. I think it's normally given to children though, I don't know.

A lot of people find it sedating but I don't. Thankfully. And I haven't had any of the weight gain that some people get.

So I was wondering if anyone here was on it.

I am on a low dose. It helps with racing thoughts and I think I am more easygoing.

I used to be because of a misdiagnosis and it was hell. No, it didn't help with autism issues, it actually made the sensory and social issues worse because I had no energy to use my coping strategies.
But it made me too weak and dumb to express it.

I get it that one can have a psychosis along with autism and then it possibly could help. But beware - my case wasn't unusual, meltdowns confused for psychotic episodes, shutdowns confused for schizophrenia - it's too easy to wrongly diagnose psychosis in an autistic person.
And my personal opinion is that giving risperidone to autistic children should be highly restricted, only after proving actual psychotic disorder (not as a meltdown-stopper).

I tried risperidone for three weeks last year. I felt awful on it. Really shaky and weak all the time. I was meant to take it for motor tics but it didn't work.

So after that I went back to haloperidol which I am still on now.

I'm on risperdal consta. I'm less likely to have emotional outbursts when stressed.

Made me feel like a robot. I had no facial expressions. Gained weight and felt like crap.

I used a super low dose for motor tics as part of Tourette's Syndrome. It helps take the edge off of them a little. The only side effect I've noticed is a little drowsiness and fatigue.

Does Haloperidol work for tics better thsn Risperidone?

For me, most definitely. Only thing is, haloperidol has parkinsonism side effects so I have to take benztropine as well.
