Have struggled with vocal tics. Worried about impact.

For years I've struggled with inappropriate vocal tics - utterances that sound like swear words, slurs, s*xual references, and threats. Most of these are unintentional.

I'm pretty sure at least two of my more disastrous job/career experiences have ended badly because someone misinterpreted this "tic"/"stim" as something that made me a problem.

Has anyone else here dealt with this problem, and is there a way to get rid of it without having a shrink tell me to drug myself up on medications?
