I learned that Grandiose Delusional Disorder is closely associated with personality disorders than Schizophrenia.

Delusion of grandeur is not absence of reality, it's an emotional anosognosia sens-self of worth. It's also related to Bipolar Disorder as this delusion is emotional based.

It's just an opinion, it's not peer approved by data.

It sounds like another way of describing part of the experience of mania, but maybe without the high energy, racing thoughts, etc?

Yes, mostly about Bipolar Disorder, Schizotypal Personality Disorder, and Narcissistic Personality Disorder. And in some cases, Antisocial Personality Disorder and Histrionic Personality Disorder.

My opinion that grandiose types of delusions is closely associated with personality disorders, and related to Bipolar Disorder as this delusion is emotional based. Delusional Disorder it self is part of Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorders, but grandiose types of delusions is different, because it's more related to Schizotypal Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder, questioning if Narcissistic Personality Disorder should be part of Schizophrenia Spectrum, because it is related to Delusion of granduer with lack of empathy and taking advantage of others. Although Schizotypal Personality Disorder is part of Schizophrenia Spectrum.

I hope you know where I come from with this confusion.
